Rocco is one of my absolute favorite residents in the building.
Truthfully, I love everyone, but Rocco occupies a special place in my heart.
A few minutes ago, I bumped into him in the hallway and noticed that he was proudly holding a painting of a ship.
When I asked him what it was, he told me that this is a painting of the actual Merchant Marine Ship he was on during the 1944 invasion of the Phillipines!
Everyone here has a story to tell. There is so much to learn from our residents!
Rocco was a young deckhand in the Merchant Marines (notice his Marine cap) and used to steer this ship for 120 minutes each day. He was given this painting as a gift and he is clearly thrilled about it!
