Amazing Photos From Last Week’s Golf Event!

Turkish Airlines just sent me some great photos of their golf event last week, which was attended by our Founder & President, David Gross, his son (and our Director of Corporate Marketing and Business Development) Michael Gross and our Regency Gardens Medical Director, Dr. Kuccuk!

They even captures several photos of them in action!

Mr. Gross Joins Dr. Kuccuk For A Game Of Golf

Regency Gardens Medical Director, Dr. Kuccuk, invited Mr. Gross and Michael Gross to a special golf event last week. Dr Kucuk has connections at Turkish Airlines and he invited them to join him. They played on Wednesday at Inwood Country Club right next to JFK.

The Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup is a massive tournament that is played on over 100 courses around the world and the winners of each go to Turkey for the main event and play with pros like Tiger Woods and Rory Mcilroy. This year’s US Open winner (last week), Brooks Koepka, is a previous Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup winner.

A First Impression For The Ages….

I had an epiphany this afternoon.

Just so I could ‘set the table for you,’ let me begin by somewhat ashamedly admitting that I’ve put on about 5 pounds over the past few months, due to a combination of factors, including (but not limited to) a slightly different schedule and a new infatuation with an old nemesis; my local bakery.

I’m still running though. A bit slower in speed and cadence, perhaps, but running all the same. I’m averaging about 20-30 running miles each week in between bites of crumb cake and apple turnovers.

I noticed a new thing too. I used to run 5 miles at a stretch before I had to stop for a breath. Now I stop to breathe after two miles and make believe I’m stopping to tie my shoelaces so that nobody else in my periphery thinks I’m flabby.

Late this afternoon, I went out for a 5 mile run.

I stopped in middle to “tie my laces” (read: catch my breath) and as luck would have it, it was just then that I bumped into someone who I know from the community.

He looks at me and says “oh, so you’re a walker, I didn’t realize that!”

To him, it was either a compliment, or a simple declarative statement of observation.

To me, it was like a swift and painful kick in the gullet!

Me! A “walker?!?!”

I AM A RUNNNNNNEEEERRRR,!!!!! I wanted to shout, but didn’t.

And it was a good thing I didn’t protest, because I already had my first chance to make my first impression and indeed I did impress.

– I impressed him as a plodding walker who was stopped over and fiddling around with his laces, not a runner who could probably still crank out 10 miles without stopping once  – if there were a chocolate danish waiting for me at the end of the trip!

AND HERE IS WHERE I HAD MY EPIPHANY.

I thought about the expression of “having only one chance to make that first impression,” and the last time I used/thought about it.

The last time I used that line, was in one of the very best articles I ever wrote for Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation Centers (in my opinion) which was picked up right over here by our friends at Provider Magazine!

If you have read to the bottom of this piece, you might as well humor me some more and read the article from that time! It is a great and valuable read for all Healthcare providers and family members too!

Keeping The Love Alive

Jim Berklan of McKnight’s fame tweeted me a link to the latest article from one of their great staff writers, Emily Mongan.

The title of the article is “Keeping the love alive after the honeymoon” and the topic is strengthening employee motivation, but the concepts and links are easily applied to everyone within their own respective fields of purview and professions.

A Digital Milestone Measured and A Spilled Paint Can!

“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”

-Mark Twain-

While I mostly blog about our many Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation milestones, today’s particular milestone is closely related, as it has indeed evolved at Regency over these past number of years!

Early this morning I decided it was finally time to change my Gravatar!

If you’ve got no clue what an “Gravatar” is, no worries, you’re in very good company.

A Gravatar, is a Globally Recognized Avatar!

Wait a second, you don’t know what an “Avatar,” is either?? Funny, right!

Ok, here are the definitions:

An “Avatar” in the computing world, is an icon or figure representing a particular person in computer games, internet forums, websites, etc.

A “Gravatar” is an image (typically, your profile photo) that you create and upload once to your profile page on….Gravatar.com (yes, that’s an actual website! Go ahead and try it, click on that link!) just once, and then when you participate in any Gravatar-enabled site, your Gravatar image will automatically follow you there.

Beautiful Display At Regency Park!

I previously blogged this beautiful holiday display with miniature Regency facilities that our staff created at Regency Park.

This morning I got an email from Kelly Smith of GEM ambulance with a photo that was sent to her by one of our staff members and posted to the GEM Ambulance Facebook page.

The photo isolates the miniature GEM ambulance that was created as part of this display!

Of course, GEM is thrilled and so are we!
