“Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
While I mostly blog about our many Regency Nursing and Rehabilitation milestones, today’s particular milestone is closely related, as it has indeed evolved at Regency over these past number of years!
Early this morning I decided it was finally time to change my Gravatar!
If you’ve got no clue what an “Gravatar” is, no worries, you’re in very good company.
A Gravatar, is a Globally Recognized Avatar!
Wait a second, you don’t know what an “Avatar,” is either?? Funny, right!
Ok, here are the definitions:
An “Avatar” in the computing world, is an icon or figure representing a particular person in computer games, internet forums, websites, etc.
A “Gravatar” is an image (typically, your profile photo) that you create and upload once to your profile page on….Gravatar.com (yes, that’s an actual website! Go ahead and try it, click on that link!) just once, and then when you participate in any Gravatar-enabled site, your Gravatar image will automatically follow you there.
Your Gravatar is thus your constant image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Gravatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, etc.
Gravatars are great for prolific internet writers, bloggers, freelancers, contributors, Search Engine Marketers and general enthusiasts. I was told I fit the bill, so I got myself a Gravatar…years ago…
Then my hair started turning white.
At first, it was something of a slow progression kind of thing…you know, like when your kid tips over the paint can and you begin to helplessly watch the white ceiling paint slowly oozing out onto your polished parquet floor.
But then it morphed into something of a white avalanche rather quickly, not dissimilar to the paint can of my analogy.
Thus, the old Gravatar was rendered obsolete.
Last night I finally decided to do something about it.
My sister in law, who is quite the talented photographer came over to the house and took several photos in an impromptu photo shoot in my music room (umm, that’s a wannabe expression for a humdrum living room with a piano in it. I learned that one from the architect, when he tried to charge me a premium for the part of the plan that included a “music room.” Even in the throes of of one of his drunken stupors, Beethoven would never have fallen for that “music” claptrap and neither did I! I don’t drink, btw.)
My new gravatar is now complete and I suppose I won’t need another “upgrade” until I experience a “downgrade” from white hair to no hair and may that day not come upon me speedily in my days or anytime soon (please say AMEN from where you are, for my sake)
Here are the 3 finalists (I chose my preference) and a chronological photo set to illustrate the “white paint can” effect from 2003 until the present.
Now go take on the day and don’t let your kids near any paint.
