Meet An Inspirational Resident at Regency Jewish Heritage!

Meet Our Beloved Molly!

Molly Is one of our centenarian residents who has been residing at Regency for almost 3 years.

Mollie grew up in New York City with her parents and 3 brothers.  As a child, she loved to read and walked to the library every Saturday morning.  She was allowed to take out 2 fiction books and 4 non-fiction, and her choices always included fairy tales.

Mollie went to Hunter College in NY on a full scholarship and earned a degree in political science and history. During the war, she worked for the Navy, inspecting ammunition in a factory in Jersey City. After the war, she worked as a payroll accountant at Lerner Shops clothing in New York City.

A few years later, she married a lucky man who lived in Highland Park, NJ and the couple had two lovely daughters there, Wendy and Alisa. Both are now grown and visit her all the time.

Mollie worked for many years as a special education teacher in a nearby elementary school.  She was also an active volunteer in the PTA and Hadassah. She loved to bake for her family; her specialties were apple pies and sponge cake.

Sadly her husband passed away 15 years ago and Mollie is now living at Regency. Today, Mollie spends her day with her peers; she joins them for Zumba gold, yoga and joins in all the programs that are offered daily. She keeps her mind and body active. And she tells everyone, “Every day is a gift especially if nothing hurts, so enjoy life”.

Mollie is an amazing resident and a truly an inspiration to all, because if she can do it, you can too!

A Special Anniversary Celebrated at Regency Gardens Nursing, Wayne, NJ!

John and Helen Celentano celebrated their 71st Wedding Anniversary on Oct. 6,2017, with a gala affair at Regency Gardens!

The facility was decorated with balloons and a “special” cake was served. The happy couple met in their teens and were High School sweethearts. After graduating, John joined the Navy during WWII and was stationed in the Philippines. When he was discharged, the couple was married at “Our Lady of Libra” in North Bergen.

Helen owned two Beauty Shops and John worked for the Postal Service. They are proud parents of two sons and are delighted with their two grandsons, one great grandson and one great granddaughter. Helen and John are contented with their life together. They praise the friendly and efficient staff and she states, “We are well cared for at our home at Regency Gardens”.

God bless them both!

A Poignant Trip Down Memory Lane at Regency Gardens, Wayne, NJ!

A very poignant and touching story this morning out of Regency Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation in Wayne, NJ.

Our beloved resident, Frances M and her husband owned the local candy store, Dayton Chocolates for over 75 years

Dayton Chocolates is one of those delightful and old school chocolatiers who create one-of-a kind chocolate delicacies that are just out of this world! Their chocolate creations come in all forms and compositions, including white chocolate, dark chocolate and everything in-between.

The business has now been taken over by her Son, Danny and he is honoring the same tried and true traditions of enhanced customer service and going the extra mile for his loyal chocolate enthusiasts!

However, as much as Frances loves her days at Regency Gardens, every once in a while she feels a longing to retrace her steps and go back to visit the landmarks and meet the families and children of the same friends she interacted with many years ago when she spent her days at the store.

This week she felt that longing again and we were only too happy to oblige and facilitate a trip back to the store and down memory lane!

The visit to the candy store was an emotional one and we captured the moment in these photographs below.

God bless you Frances! We love you so much!
