I get this all the time.
“What benefits do I have as a US Veteran?”
The Veteran’s administration was established in 1930 when Congress authorized the President to “Coordinate and Consolidate” Government activities affecting war veterans.
One of the common programs, is what they call “Aid and Attendance.” This is a benefit paid by the Veterans Administration (VA) to Veterans, or their surviving spouses. It is basically a cash pension provided to those veterans who require care, whether at home, in an assisted living, or skilled nursing facility. Eligibility is based on certain criteria.
To folks who meet these requirements, VA benefits is like a lifeline for them.
