FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — The annual luncheon honoring Somerset County residents age 100 and older featured 18 centenarians in attendance at the Regency Jewish Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin Township on May 20.
The luncheon, hosted by the Regency with the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services, featured a meal and birthday cake, presentations of citations and music by Bobby Brescia. The ‘senior’ senior in attendance was 108-year-old Margaret MacKenzie of Basking Ridge, Bernards Township. Another eight centenarians who could not attend were honored in absentia.
The annual luncheon is part of activities celebrating Older Americans Month, recognizing the contributions of individuals age 60 and older who enrich and strengthen their communities.
