This morning I met with Yaffa Lieberman, who is the CEO of Prime Rehabilitation.
Prime Rehab has had a long relationship with Regency Nursing Centers and we are proud of our affiliation.
The Prime Rehab therapists in collaboration with Regency Rehab programs, are passionate about treating the elderly and providing encouragement and support for residents to help them achieve their highest level of independence. We develop lasting relationships with the residents and their family members. Being actively involved in decisions about resident care and discharge planning, our therapists work in a team environment under the guidance of an experienced director, minimizing administrative responsibilities and maximizing quality care time.
Director of Rehabilitation ― The director of rehabilitation at our facility oversees the daily operations of the program and also attends facility meetings, schedules patient care, communicates with the facility administration, and ensures that the patients receive the best care possible. Additional responsibilities include billing, care plan meetings, coordinating CMI with the MDS Coordinator, and in-service scheduling.
Physical Therapists and Physical Therapists Assistants ― Our Physical Therapists strive to improve the resident’s quality of life by providing hands-on treatment toward functional independence, as well as providing attention, encouragement, and education to the resident and their caregiver. Our patient evaluations use functional standardized tests, and our treatments incorporate the latest evidence based practice to implement the best skilled care.
Physical Therapy is one component of the rehabilitation program at Prime Rehabilitation Services. Our treatment goals are designed to allow the patient to regain their prior level of function after an injury or a decline.
Physical therapists provide skilled care to improve the patient’s ambulation, balance, strength, transfer ability, and mobility. They assess the need for specialized equipment and provide modalities to help in pain reduction and wound management. Physical Therapy treatments address orthopedic, neurological, cardiac, pulmonary and vascular care, as well as wound care. Recovery is enhanced by the use of electrical stimulation, ultrasound, moist heat, and other modalities as specified by the physician. Upon discharge from therapy, restorative programs are established with the nursing staff or family members to ensure quality care continuity.
Occupational Therapists and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants ― Our Occupational Therapists focus on functional treatment, strategies to enhance the resident’s independence and quality of life.
Occupational Therapy is an integral part of the rehabilitation at Prime Rehabilitation Services. Occupational Therapy focuses on the patient’s ability to perform with the highest level of independence in the activities of daily living (ADL). We guide the patients and their families in developing compensatory techniques for preserving the highest level of function to enhance quality of life.
Occupational therapists provide skilled care to improve the patient’s ability to perform activities of daily living (ADL) such as dressing, bathing, feeding, grooming, and toileting. They also focus on functional mobility, positioning techniques, contracture management, and home safety. Occupational Therapy is primarily concerned with improving or developing/restoring the sensory, motor, cognitive, perceptual and psychosocial skills which have been impaired by illness or injury. Upon discharge from therapy, restorative programs are established with the nursing staff or family members to ensure continuity of quality care.
Speech-Language Pathologists ― Our Speech-Language Pathologists provide intervention for patients who have difficulty in either communication and/or swallowing. The goal is to enhance cognitive and/or swallowing strategies to the highest safe functional levels.
The Speech-Language Pathologist will teach the family the best way to communicate with the patient by listening, reading, understanding, processing, or expressing needs. The Speech-Language Pathologist will analyze the patient’s ability to comprehend and assess communication difficulties and then guide the caregivers accordingly.
The patient may have lost muscle strength in the mouth and throat. This loss can make it difficult to swallow or ingest food. Food might go down the “wrong tube,” into the lungs instead of the stomach, causing aspiration pneumonia. Consistency of food and liquid is established and adjusted by the Speech-Language Pathologist and the dietitian. The Speech-Language Pathologist teaches and trains safe swallowing of liquids and foods to meet the nutritional needs of the patient, without risk of aspiration.
Restorative Nursing Programs – Upon discharge from therapy, restorative programs are established with the nursing staff or family members to ensure continuity of quality care.
Technicians – Our Rehabilitation Technicians are an integral part of the rehabilitation team. Greeting each resident with a smile, each of our rehabilitation technicians transports, assists and encourages resident treatment. Organizing gym equipment and therapy paperwork, our rehabilitation technicians assist in the smooth operations of the rehabilitation department.
